The premises at 17 High Street, Galway was first opened as a specialist violin shop Galway Violins in 1984 by Luthier Kevin Sykes. Since then the range of stock has expanded but the focus remains on high quality instruments for sale and dedicated repair service.

Kieran career with musical instruments started after finishing secondary school in the mid 1980 s, his third level education was at the London College of Furniture (now amalgamated into the London Metropolitan University) where he studied a full time diploma in musical instrument technology,specialising in woodwind instrument construction and design.

In 1989 he was offered an apprenticeship with Tom Cussen at Clareen Banjos, where he gained hands on experience in instrument making and developed a flair for inlaying and engraving.

In 1993 he moved to California USA, and worked for a Musical Instruments distributor in the receiving, quality control and instrument set-up departments. Joining the Northern California Association of Luthiers meant weekends spent at monthly seminars and meetings of NCAL where he met with, and spent time in the workshops of some of the leading Guitar builders in the USA

Eighteen months later he moved back to Ireland and began to work under violin maker Kevin Sykes in High Street,Galway. Kevin moved his main workshop to Ballyvarry Co. Mayo in 1996

At that point Kieran stayed on at the High Street premises and established his current business

Customers range from beginners to well known professionals across all genres of music who are based localy,around Ireland and across the world.Apart from individuals,bands and ensembles,colleges and schools are also catered for with discounted educational rates on equipment and repairs.

The Moloney family has been involved with music going back to Kierans Great-Grandfather; piper and opera singer James; Grandfather Stephen, one of the founders of the Balinakill ceili band from County Galway-the first ever ceili band to be broadcast on radio in 1929 .His passion for music was instilled by his father Eddie and older brother Sean, both distinguished on flute and fiddle.

Kieran Moloney has his beautiful workshop “Moloney Music” in Ireland, in the town of “Galway” and that’s where I found my Dowina guitar, Kieran also sells by internet and I was delivered to eastern France in 4 days !

Les locaux du 17 High Street à Galway ont été ouverts pour la première fois en tant que magasin de violon spécialisé “Galway Violins” en 1984 par le luthier Kevin Sykes. Depuis lors, la gamme de stock s’est élargie, mais l’accent reste mis sur la vente d’instruments de haute qualité et un service de réparation dédié.

La carrière de Kieran Moloney a commencé après avoir terminé ses études secondaires au milieu des années 1980, il a suivi l’enseignement de 3ème niveau au London College of Furniture (maintenant fusionné avec la London Metropolitan University) où il a étudié à temps plein la technologie des instruments de musique, spécialisé dans construction et conception d’instruments à vent.

En 1989, il a suivi un apprentissage avec Tom Cussen à Clareen Banjos, où il a acquis une expérience pratique dans la fabrication d’instruments et développé un flair pour l’incrustation et la gravure.

En 1993, il a déménagé en Californie aux États-Unis et a travaillé pour un distributeur d’instruments de musique dans les départements de réception, de contrôle de la qualité et de configuration des instruments. Rejoindre la Northern California Association of Luthiers signifiait passer des week-ends à des séminaires et des réunions mensuels du NCAL où il se réunissait et passer du temps dans les ateliers de certains des principaux constructeurs de guitares aux États-Unis.

Dix-huit mois plus tard, il est retourné en Irlande et a commencé à travailler avec le luthier Kevin Sykes à High Street, Galway. Kevin a déménagé son atelier principal à Ballyvarry Co. Mayo en 1996

À ce moment-là, Kieran est resté dans les locaux de High Street et a établi son entreprise actuelle

Les clients vont des débutants aux professionnels bien connus de tous les genres de musique qui sont basés localement, en Irlande et à travers le monde.En plus des particuliers, des groupes et des ensembles, les collèges et les écoles sont également pris en charge avec des tarifs éducatifs réduits sur l’équipement et les réparations.

La famille Moloney a été impliquée dans la musique remontant à l’arrière-grand-père de Kierans, cornemuseur et chanteur d’opéra James Grand père Stephen, l’un des fondateurs du groupe Balinakill ceili du comté de Galway, le premier groupe ceili à être diffusé à la radio en 1929.

Sa passion pour la musique a été inculquée par son père Eddie et son frère aîné Sean, tous deux distingués à la flûte et au violon. .

Kieran Moloney a son magnifique magasin “Moloney Music” en Irlande, dans la ville de “Galway” et c’est là que j’ai trouvé ma guitare Dowina, Kieran vend également par internet et j’ai été livré dans l’est de la France en 4 jours !
